Ingredients |
1 |
Packet of dry yeast |
1/4 |
Cup of warm water |
3/4 |
Cup of lukewarm milk -- scalded and then cooled |
1/4 |
Cup of sugar |
1 |
Teaspoon of salt |
1 |
Egg |
1/4 |
Cup of soft butter |
3 1/2 |
Cups of flour -- you can use more flour but no more than 3 3/4 Cups
total |
|
Directions |
|
Preheat the oven to 400 ºF |
|
In a mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm water |
|
Stir in the remaining ingredients adding only enough flour to handle
easily |
|
Place the dough onto a lightly floured board |
|
Knead it until it is smooth and elastic |
Note: |
If you have a Kitchenaid mixer, you can add all the ingredients instead
of mixing and kneading by hand |
|
Place the dough in a greased bowl then turn the dough over so that
the greased side is up |
|
Place a damp cloth to cover the bowl then place the bowl in a warm
place to let it rise to about double its size -- about 1 1/2 hours |
|
Punch down the dough and cover it to let it rise again to double its
size -- about 30 minutes |
|
Shape the dough into dinner roll size pieces and place in a greased
baking sheet |
|
Let the rolls rise for 20 minutes |
|
Bake in the oven until lightly browned -- about 12 - 15 minutes |
|
Set tha pan onto a cooling rack or serve it warm |
