Freezer Jam

Sweet Black Cherry freezer jam is my favorite. You can use the type of fruit you like. All you need is Ball pectin, sugar, and fruit. You then follow the online Ball Pectin calculator to determine the amount of pectin, sugar, and fruit to mix in a bowl to produce the number of jars of jam you want. Pour the mixture into your washed jelly jars and place the lids on. They must be kept in a freezer until you take a jar out to use. The jar you use can stay in the refrigerator.

Step 1:

Purchase the Ball brand Instant Pectin. There are many varieties of pectin. The one we like is RealFruil Instant Pectin. If it has the word Instant in the name, it is the correct one. This variety uses less sugar and more fruit -- this means more fruit flavor.

Step 2:

Before you get started, run your jelly jars through the dishwasher.

Step 3:

Go to the online Ball Pectin calculator web site to determine how much pectin, sugar (or Splenda®), and fruit to mix together for the number of jars of jam you want to make. You will get step-by-step instructions on how to put it all together. The link below will take you to the Ball Pectin calculator web site.
