Cut-Out Sugar Cookies

 

  Ingredients

Cups of sifted confectioners' sugar (also know as powered sugar)

Cup of butter or margarine

Egg
1
Teaspoon of vanilla
1/2
Cup of ground walnuts
2 1/2
Cups of all purpose flour
1
Teaspoon of baking soda
1
Teaspoon of Cream of Tartar
  Directions
  Cream sugar and butter/margarine in a large mixing bowl
  Mix in egg, vanilla, ground walnuts
  Stir in flour, baking soda and Cream of Tartar
  Place in refrigerator and to let cool for 2 to 3 hours
  Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  Use only half the cookie dough and leave the rest in the refrigerator.
  Sprinkle flour onto a surface to roll out the dough
  Roll the dough to about 1/4 inch
  Cut out cookies using your favorite cookie cutter(s)
  Place cut out cookies onto a lightly greased baking sheet
  Bake for 7 to 8 minutes until lightly golden brown -- or whatever you want
  Decorate cookies after they cool -- see icing below
  Optional Icing -- or use whatever you want
  Blend 1 cup of sifted confectioners' sugar (also know as powered sugar), 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla, and enough water to making icing easy to squeeze through a decorating tube or to spread depending on how you are going to use it.
